The Banana Moon Approach to Garment Printing

“All our production is handled in-house, from screen printing to Direct to Film and Direct to Garment. We’ve invested hundreds of thousands in the latest sustainability-focused machinery, combining cutting-edge technology with our team’s decades of experience and passion for the art of printing.

Our printers have been honing their craft for between 15 and 30 years, giving them the expertise to achieve every effect and even the most intricate detail. We stay at the forefront of ink innovation and sustainability and use non-harmful chemicals throughout our production.

This allows us to deliver incredible results with fast turnarounds, including speciality finishes such as UV inks, glow-in-the-dark effects, and textured 3D prints - while maintaining the quality and care our clients trust, as reflected in our near-perfect Trustpilot reviews.” - Ewa Spurek, Production Manager

FAQs

What are your most popular items for merch printing?

Hoodies are a go-to for merch printing, as they’re incredibly popular as a parting gift for school leavers or as cosy winter merchandise for clubs and corporations.

T-shirts are another classic choice, perfect for a simple summer stash option.

Clothes aren’t the only option for merch printing though. Printed accessories are fantastic for things like freshers fairs and corporate events. Printed tote bags are incredibly popular as they’re useful and fit with an array of lifestyles.

However, if you’d like to explore less conventional options, we have garments galore for printing, including trousers, gym sacs, aprons, gilets and more.

What can I add to my merch printing designs beyond just a name and logo?

You can add almost anything to the print design of your logo, from sponsor details to fun character drawings and more. If you’d like help with dreaming up your print design, our creative team can help.

What is the best garment printing method for large bulk orders?

For bulk orders, we recommend screen printing, as the process allows the same print to be swiftly applied over and over, so that the price per unit decreases the more that you order.

What is the best method for t-shirt printing?

The "best" method depends on your order size and design. For large runs (25+ items) with bold, solid-colour logos, Screen Printing is the gold standard for durability and cost-effectiveness. For smaller orders or designs with many colours, Direct to Garment (DTG) is often preferred as it prints directly into the fibres for a soft-hand feel.

What is the best method for detailed garment printing designs?

For intricate designs with a low amount of colours or simple solid colours, screen printing is fantastic at showing small details. For photographs, or designs with complex gradients, Direct to Garment (DTG) or Direct to Film (DTF) are the best choices. DTG works like an inkjet printer for clothes, capturing incredible detail, while our modern DTF process ensures those sharp details remain vibrant and flexible on almost any fabric.

What is the best method for printing on hoodies?

Hoodies are versatile, but Direct to Film (DTF) is currently our top recommendation. Because hoodie fabric is thicker and often a blend of materials, DTF provides a durable, stretchy finish that won’t crack over time. For simple, large-scale back prints, Screen Printing remains a classic, high-quality choice.

Do you offer eco friendly garment printing?

As a B Corp certified company, sustainability is at our core. We offer a wide range of organic cotton and recycled polyester garments. Our printing processes use water-based, OEKO-TEX® certified inks, which are non-toxic and more environmentally friendly than traditional plastisol inks.

Does merch printing have VAT?

Standard adult clothing and printing services are subject to VAT at the standard rate. However, most children’s clothing (up to age 13) is zero-rated for VAT. If you are a registered charity, you may be eligible for VAT relief on certain promotional items. Please contact our team for specific guidance on your order.

Can you combine printing with embroidery?

Embroidery over print is one of our popular next-level customisations, providing an eye-catching effect for truly stand-out items. It also adds a great sensory touch, making it a fantastic addition to our anxiety relief hoodies.

Do you offer special effect garment printing?

To help your merch stand out, we offer various speciality finishes, including metallic glitter, sparkle inks, glow-in-the-dark effects and reflective printing (ideal for safety or high-visibility branding). If you have a specific effect in mind, just ask our creative team!
